Burst Bubble

For those of you familiar with views of the city of Vancouver, things might look a little different now! Yesterday afternoon we had another huge wind storm and what began as a small tear in the fabric teflon-coated roof of BC Place Stadium became a huge gash that flapped in the wind and ripped until the whole roof collapsed!!! Now the big white bubble is deflated. Only a handful of staff were there, and no one was injured, thankfully. The stadium is booked to host the 2010 Winter Olymic opening and closing ceremonies, and just three weeks ago it was said that the roof was structurally sound and should last another 10-15 years. Looks like they were wrong! Today Trish and Henri and the kids are visiting us from Ontario, and we were planning to visit Stanley Park (its sunny and warm today), so we'll have to drive by BC Place and check it out...
