Good Friday

Our Good Friday started out very well. We heard an excellent sermon on the last moments of Christ's life. The significance of His last words, how He made sure his mother was taken care of, the symbolism of the hyssop used to give him a drink (think Passover) and His last gesture, a bow of His head. Utter humility and reverence for His Father. We learned a lot from that sermon that we had never heard before...love when that happens!
After church and a great family snooze, we went with Omi, Grandpa and Uncle Michael (AKA "Uncle Carkeys" to Lydia) to Steveston. It's a cute village on the water where there is a historical cannery. There is a museum there now which shows how salmon were caught and put into tins. There is an active warf and marina there still, with hundreds of fishing boats and a few of them selling fresh caught seafood off their decks. Nick was drooling, but I had to remind him our freezer is still full from his last meat-shopping frenzy!
We had a lovely walk around the bay and docks, watching kites flying and people enjoying the sun. It was "fish Friday" of course, so everyone was buying fish and chips! We went for dinner at Kelsey's, an old favourite back in Hamilton, but no one ordered fish...
Lydia had a scary accident- she fell backwards out of the highchair! I had tried to strap her in, but the buckle was broken, so we let it go...big mistake. I turned my head for a second, and out of the corner of my eye saw her legs flip backwards! She actually did a back flip and landed on her head. Everyone gasped and the manager came running, but our little toughie was fine. A few tears and then she was charming those concerned people all around her! The girls got an extra ice cream and treat from the toy box. We were kind of hoping to get a free meal.... I guess we should have made a fuss or "called our lawyer" but we're just not that kind of people (:
When we got home, Nick made a fire outside for Robyn and Lydia to roast marshmallows on(they had been requesting this for weeks!) and we enjoyed the warm evening and canopy of stars above.
Happy Easter everyone!

Methinks Lydia should have been wearing Robyn's helmet! :o)
Glad she is okay, though -- that must have been scary to watch!

Lol Good idea! We'll have to remember that helmet next time we go out for dinner...
